Derek Bell takes "Ask A Pro" turn for SAFEisFAST.com
Derek Bell, the five-time Le Mans winner and two-time World Sports Car champion, is the latest Online Driving Instructor for SAFEisFAST.com.
With a career spanning over 40 years, Bell remains one of the most popular drivers of his generation. Since his retirement from professional racing, he has engaged with numerous motor sport and charity projects utilizing his vast knowledge and enthusiasm.
Bell rapidly progressed through the junior motorsport ranks in the 1960s before turning professional when offered a drive by Enzo Ferrari. He went on to compete in 16 Formula 1 Grands Prix, including drives for Ferrari and McLaren.
But endurance racing was the arena in which Bell truly shone. Taking back-to-back World Sports Car Championships in 1985 and '86, he also won the 24 Hours of Daytona in 1986, 87 and 89. He formed one of the most famous pairings in motorsport history with Jacky Ickx, claiming victory in the Le Mans 24 hours in 1975, 1981 and 82. Bell claimed a further two victories in the 1986 and 87 editions of the French classic.
Bell still competes in historic racing and represents global automotive brands such as Porsche and Bentley. He is a supporter of the charity Mission Motorsport that helps injured servicemen and women acquire skills, self-confidence and potential careers through motor sport.
With limitless knowledge of motorsport, Bell is ready to answer questions as the latest "Ask A Pro."
