Rolex 24, Hour 4: Cadillac takes over the lead

As the sun begins to set over Daytona International Speedway, the No. 31 Cadillac Whelen V-Series.R now leads the 64th annual Rolex 24 At Daytona.

The GTP order was shuffled after the incident between Wright Motorsports’ Adam Adelson and AF Corse LMP2 driver Dylan Murry. Julien Andlauer in the No. 7 Porsche Penske Motorsport 963 entered the pits for routine service in first place, but needed to be pushed out of the way of the sister No. 6 car as it underwent a nose change and repairs to the right sidepod.

Andlauer dropped four places while Earl Bamber in the No. 31 Cadillac moved to the lead, a lead he still holds with 20 hours to go. But Andlauer has since recovered to second place, having run third before the No. 93 Acura Meyer Shank Racing ARX-06 pitted from second due to a puncture; during the pit stop, Kakunoshin Ohta took over from Álex Palou.

Dries Vanthoor has driven the No. 24 Team WRT BMW M Hybrid V8 up to third, and holding strong in fourth is Kaylen Frederick in the No. 85 JDC-Miller MotorSports Porsche. Laurens Vanthoor in the No. 6 Penske Porsche is up to fifth.

AO Racing has plugged Dane Cameron into the No. 99 ORECA 07-Gibson; he leads LMP2 by over ten seconds as “Spike the Dragon” looks to return to the lead.

Toby Sowery's No. 04 CrowdStrike Racing by APR car runs second in class, followed by the No. 73 Pratt Miller Motorsports car of Chris Cumming.

Tommy Milner led the last green flag restart in the No. 4 Corvette, but he had to take avoiding action for an LMP2 incident between George Kolovos (Inter Europol Competition No. 343) and David Heinemeier Hansson (TDS Racing) and dropped down the order to seventh.

Antonio García now leads GTD Pro in the No. 3 Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports Z06 GT3.R. Andrea Caldarelli has charged through to second in the No. 9 Pfaff Motorsports Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 and is putting García under big pressure. Then it’s the two Ford Racing Mustang GT3s in third and fourth - Ben Barker in the No. 64 ahead of Sebastian Priaulx in the No. 65 - followed by Dan Harper in the No. 1 Paul Miller Racing BMW M4 GT3 EVO.

In GTD, Albert Costa has driven the No. 34 Conquest Racing Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo to the lead, just ahead of Indy Dontje in the No. 57 Winward Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO. Then there’s a gap to the third-placed No. 27 Heart of Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo of Tom Gamble. The No. 96 Turner Motorsport BMW made an unscheduled stop to resolve a blockage in the radiator and has dropped out of the top 10 in class.

IMSA confirmed that Adam Adelson has been transported to a nearby hospital for further evaluation, but he is awake and alert after the collision with Dylan Murry. Murry has been evaluated and released from the infield care center. The No. 120 Wright Porsche is now the third official retirement of the race.
