Shwartzman joins Peugeot for 2027 WEC campaign

Robert Shwartzman will return to the FIA World Endurance Championship’s Hypercar category in 2027, joining Peugeot TotalEnergies to race its updated 9X8.

Shwartzman previously competed in the FIA WEC in 2024, racing AF Corse’s privately-entered No. 83 Ferrari 499P. That season he won Lone Star Le Mans overall alongside Robert Kubica and Ye Yifei. After that he moved to IndyCar with Prema Racing, where he sensationally claimed Indianapolis 500 pole position as a rookie, but Italian squad’s IndyCar program fell apart over the off-season and left him without a drive for 2026.

The arrival of Shwartzman at Peugeot fits one of the first pieces of it 2027 Hypercar driver puzzle into place. At least two drivers are expected to depart the current 9X8 roster.

Shwartzman has previously contributed to Stellantis’ racing programs after spending two seasons as the reserve driver for DS Penske in FIA Formula E.
