Red Bull keeping Hadjar on the sidelines for Madrid

Red Bull has confirmed Isack Hadjar will remaing on the sidelines for this weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix as he continues to recover from his wrist injury.

Hadjar fractured his wrist while using boxing as part of his summer break training. The injury ruled him out of the first race back at Zandvoort, and while he made progress ahead of last weekend's race at Monza, Red Bull stated it would not rush Hadjar back and instead stuck with Liam Lawson alongside Max Verstappen, while Yuki Tsunoda drove for Racing Bulls.

With this weekend's trip to Madrid serving as the second race in back-to-back weekends, the team has confirmed it will retain the current driver line-ups at the street circuit.

“After racing for the team in Zandvoort and Monza, Liam will continue to drive alongside Max at this week’s Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid,” Red Bull announced on Monday.

“The decision has been taken as Isack’s recovery continues to progress positively. While he is not yet ready to return to the cockpit, he will be in Madrid supporting the team.

“Everyone at Oracle Red Bull Racing looks forward to welcoming Isack back behind the wheel very soon.”

Racing Bulls also confirmed Tsunoda’s drive as a result of Lawson staying with Red Bull; the Japanese driver having scored his first point of his temporary spell with 10th place in Monza on Sunday. Lawson failed to score for Red Bull after taking a power unit penalty and then picking up damage in the race, having previously finished seventh in Zandvoort.
