While the three-day event celebrated both designer Peter Brock and "all things Shelby American” with a wide variety of special events, the vintage open-wheelers wrapped up their 2022 season by grabbing a share of the Festival weekend spotlight.

With two-time Indy 500 winner Al Unser Jr. pacing the field in a vintage 1978 Corvette pace car, the Indy cars drew throngs of fans in their four appearances on the M1 Concourse facility’s Champion Speedway. Photographer Brian Hart and M1 CEO Tim McGrane each received the prestigious Vintage Indy Omologato Watch Award, and Stevensville, Michigan’s Chuck Jones won the Vintage Indy/Class 2 Peoples Choice Trophy in Sunday’s Concourse for his stunning 1970 Dan Gurney Olsonite Eagle Offy.
