WTR signs Lynn for Sebring, Petit Le Mans
Wayne Taylor Racing has signed England's Alex Lynn to take the place of Max Angelelli in the No. 10 Cadillac DPi-V.R for two of the three remaining endurance races on IMSA's WeatherTech SportsCar Championship calendar.
The winners of January's Rolex 24 at Daytona will put the GP2 graduate to work for the first time alongside Ricky and Jordan Taylor at Round 2 in Sebring, where he'll fill the seat vacated by the newly-retired Angelelli. Lynn will return in October to close the season with the Taylors at Petit Le Mans.
"I am delighted to be making my IMSA debut with the Konica Minolta Cadillac DPi-V.R team – the racing team and carmaker who both have such an incredible heritage and passionate desire to win," Lynn said. "I would like to sincerely thank (team owner) Wayne (Taylor) and Max for trusting me to join Ricky and Jordan in this incredible racecar. I look forward to learning a lot from the entire team and playing my part in building on the fantastic recent result at Daytona. I fully expect us to be fighting for wins at Sebring and Road Atlanta."
The five-time GP2 race winner added sports car racing to his CV last year in select FIA World Endurance Championship events with the Manor Racing LMP2 team. Transitioning to the LMP2-based Cadillac DPi-V.R should be an easy undertaking for the Briton.
"We welcome Alex to the Konica Minolta Cadillac DPi-V.R team with hopes of picking up where we left off at Daytona," said Wayne Taylor. "Alex is a very polished, young competitor who is cut from the same mold as Ricky and Jordan and Max in his ability to fight his way to the front and to stay there in seemingly any kind of racecar. He will be an ideal representative of this team, for Konica Minolta, for Cadillac, for all our partners."
Paired with Ricky (27) and Jordan Taylor (25), Lynn (23) will give WTR the youngest average age (25) in IMSA's Prototype class.
