WEC: Back injuries force Treluyer to miss Mexico

Audi driver Benoit Treluyer will miss this weekend's Mexico City round of the World Endurance Championship as he continues his recovery from back injuries.

The Frenchman drove the No.7 Audi R18 e-tron quattro in testing and free practice on Thursday, his first time back in the car after sustaining a cracked vertebra in a training incident in July. But because he was only able to resume training in the past 10 days, Treluyer didn't feel confident about his ability to undertake a double stint in tomorrow's six-hour race.

Treluyer told Autosport: "If I had to do two stints, I'm not sure I would be able to do it. We talked about it quite a lot, and came to this decision. I'd love to have driven here, but this is the responsible decision."

The move means that Andre Lotterer and Marcel Fassler will drive the No.7 car as a duo for the second WEC race in a row.

Toyota driver Anthony Davidson is also missing the race as the result of discomfort from rib injuries sustained in an accident in testing at Magny-Cours last month.
