GP2's King wins FIA Institute accolade
Manor Formula 1 team affiliated GP2 driver Jordan King has won the driver of the year accolade at the FIA Institute's Young Driver Excellence Academy.
King is one of 11 drivers who has been part of the academy process through 2015, undertaking a series of development workshops under the supervision of former F1 driver Alex Wurz and 2001 World Rally Championship winning co-driver Robert Reid.
"Despite the high level of talent demonstrated by the academy drivers this year, Jordan's skills and understanding stood out throughout the process and he is a well-deserved winner," Wurz said. "I have no doubt that Jordan, and the rest of the Academy drivers, will go on to achieve great success in motorsport and build on the foundations we have helped them create."
An FIA Institute statement said Reid and Wurz will "will assist King in his career progression" as part of his prize for winning the award.
Other academy members this year included European Formula 3 racer Pietro Fittipaldi and GP3 driver Seb Morris.
