Warren Agor, an independent sports car racer who took the fight to bigger teams SCCA Trans-Am and Can-Am despite low operating budgets and volunteer crew members (ABOVE), and later in IMSA GT competition, has passed away at age 72.
After working for Roger Penske's race team as a mechanic, he went on to form Agor Racing Enterprises where he served as team owner, car builder and driver, fielding Chevrolet-powered Camaros and Monzas as well as McLaren Can-Am cars.
Based in Penfield, a suburb of Rochester, N.Y., contested mostly in the eastern U.S. After retiring from pro competition, Agor remained active in the vintage racing scene.
Donations in his memory can be sent to International Motor Racing Research Center, 610 S. Decatur, Watkins Glen, NY 14891.
