Vote! RACER's World Cup of Liveries: The semifinals

We're at the business end of RACER's World Cup of Liveries. What started as a Group of 16 was carved down to a Group of 8, and now we have just four liveries left fighting it out to be the one the hoists the trophy with its little livery arms.

To quickly recap: RACER's writers and editors came up with an initial list of 16 contenders for the title of greatest IndyCar livery of all time. They were randomly drawn into a series of head-to-head battles, decided by your vote. Under our knockout format, eight of the initial 16 were eliminated in the first round, and another four were booted out of contention in round two. Now, just four remain.
Here's how the previous round played out:

STP Paxton-Turbocar vs late '90s Target Chip Ganassi Racing
Winner: Ganassi's late-90s Target colors, 65.8% of the vote

It wasn't really even close. Indeed, Ganassi claiming almost 66 percent set the tone for the entire second round set the tone for this part of the contest. Where most of the opening round match-ups were decided in the margins, the Round of 8 was a Round of Blowouts. That STP paint scheme retains its status as one of the sport's all-time classics, but its the lighting-bolted Target cars that head into the semi-finals.

Teo Fabi's 1989 Quaker State Holbert Racing March vs 1993 Team Penske Marlboro
Winner: 1993 Team Penske Marlboro, 76.5% of the vote

The 1993 Marlboro-emblazoned Penskes couldn't find a way to topple Nigel Mansell back in the day, but they've steamrolled through two opponents in the opening stages of our World Cup of Liveries. But credit to the voters who helped carry Fabi's Quaker State livery through two rounds, and putting the spotlight back onto a very cool paintjob that might otherwise have retreated into the mists of time.

Pennzoil Chaparral 2K vs Robby Gordon's 1999 Eagle
Winner: Pennzoil Chaparral 2K, 67.8%

Not really a surprise. When a livery is still being reprised decades later it's a safe bet that it has something going for it, and the Yellow Submarine is one of those color schemes that will continue to make 'best of' lists for decades to come. Robby Gordon's Eagle makes a proud exit, although we might bring it back for a shootout with a 1997 Jordan if we ever want to determine the best race car with an animal on its nose.

Al Unser's 1970 Johnny Lightning vs Bobby Unser's 1975 Jorgensen AAR Offenhauser
Winner: Johnny Lightning, 76.2%

Another chapter in the Unser family rivalry, although Al Sr had both thumbs on the scales for this one. The gorgeous Jorgensen paint job on Uncle Bobby's 1975 Indy winner is rightly adored, but trying to out-livery Johnny Lightning is a bit like trying to out-princess Disneyland.

Four remain in the hunt. Time to decide who goes through to the final. By random draw, here are the match-ups:
