Prost reportedly suffers slight head injury in home robbery

Formula 1 legend Alain Prost was “slightly injured” in a masked robbery at his home in Switzerland, according to police.

Swiss newspaper Blick reports the four-time world champion’s home in Nyon, just outside Geneva, was targeted by a masked group. While the police report itself did not name the family involved, it confirmed a break-in earlier this week that led to an injury that the paper also reports was suffered by Prost.

“According to initial findings of the investigation, on Tuesday morning, May 19, several masked individuals broke into the house,” a statement from the Vaud cantonal police force read. "Once inside, they threatened the occupants and slightly injured one family member in the head, under circumstances that are still being investigated.

“The perpetrators then forced another family member to open a safe before fleeing with loot, the precise contents of which are currently being assessed.”

The police also says it “immediately deployed a large-scale search operation” as it seeks to identify and apprehend the individuals involved. Both Swiss and French police are involved in the investigation.

71-year-old Prost won Formula 1 titles in 1985, 1986, 1989 and 1993 – the first three with McLaren and the final one with Williams – leaving him behind only Juan Manuel Fangio (with five), Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton (both with seven) in terms of championships won. Prost is also fifth on the list of all-time race winners with 51.
