Genesis shows off Hypercar colors
Genesis Magma Racing has revealed the livery that its GMR-001 Hypercars will sport during its maiden FIA World Endurance Championship season, ahead of a public showing at the New York International Auto Show at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center later this week.
The Korean brand's ORECA-based, twin-turbo V8-powered LMDh racers will run in a livery next year, blending "Magma orange" and "deep red," According to Genesis, the color scheme "blends performance with artistic expression" and "marries intensity with subtlety, dominated by the signature Magma orange -- a hue symbolizing Korea’s vibrant energy.
"Discreetly integrated into the design is the Korean Hangeul lettering for “Magma” (마그마), with its consonants “ㅁ, ㄱ, ㅁ” forming geometric motifs that echo the team’s logo," its explanation continues
"This visual language reflects Genesis’ fusion of cultural authenticity and innovation, ensuring the GMR-001 Hypercar stands out as a moving emblem of Korean identity."
Cyril Abiteboul, team principal of Genesis Magma Racing, added: “Today marks a significant milestone for Genesis Magma Racing as we unveil the GMR-001 Hypercar, along with our striking livery and race suits."
"As we gear up for our 2026 WEC and 2027 IMSA campaigns, we are not merely assembling a race team; we are forging a legacy. Each day brings us one step closer to realizing the full potential of Genesis in the world of motorsports."
The GMR-001 program is Genesis' first foray into motorsport. It will see the brand compete initially in Hypercar as a factory, before expanding in 2027 to IMSA's GTP class with an as-yet-unannounced service provider.
Alongside the development program for the GMR-001 this year Genesis is also competing in the ELMS LMP2 class to prepare for its first WEC season with partner team IDEC Sport.
The team impressed on its series debut earlier this month. "Trajectory Program" drivers Jamie Chadwick, Mathys Jaubert and Daniel Juncadella won the LMP2 class with a second-place overall finish at Barcelona.
A full-scale GMR-001 will be displayed at the Genesis booth during the New York International Auto Show, which is slated to open to the public on April 18.
