No guarantee I'll stay at McLaren - Alonso
Fernando Alonso has suggested he is considering options outside of McLaren despite a switch to Renault power units next season.
McLaren and Honda will announce the end of its partnership on Friday
in Singapore, with the Japanese manufacturer supplying Toro Rosso next year. While Alonso says he is willing to wait for the team to finalize its plans for 2018 before deciding what he will do after his contract expires this year, he himself makes his priority to be in a winning car."I will think what is the best option," Alonso said. "As I said many times, whatever I do next year will be because I want to win. I will not be in any series to be fighting for top 10, top 15 – nothing like that.
"There are many options I'm studying and looking at. Formula 1 is my first and only priority. I will wait to make a decision on that before making decisions on other series.
"At the same time, I want to give time to my team. After the last three years with some struggles that we went through together, to have time for them to make decisions, to see the future for next year's car. After they take decisions, I will take mine.
"I want to stay loyal at least to that. I will not make any decisions without them making any decisions first. I'm relaxed, happy, and we'll see what's going on in the next few weeks."
Asked if one of his options is in IndyCar, Alonso replied: "There are options everywhere, and they are all very good. You just need to be patient and wait a couple of weeks."

After missing the Monaco Grand Prix to race in the Indy 500 this season, Alonso also hinted that he was looking at the potential to compete at Le Mans next year, with Honda's departure opening up the possibility of racing for Toyota in the 24-hour race.
"The Triple Crown is clear target for me in the future, and there are three races there. If the Indy 500 is together with Monaco as we know, there is another one still to complete. The Triple Crown is still ongoing at the maximum speed.
"If I remain in Formula 1, it's because I believe I can win next year. That will ease the decision a lot because I will be in Monaco, because I don't want to lose any points there. Priority is Formula 1, as I said before, winning here. The Triple Crown is in the background. There are three races, not only Indy. There are many, many possibilities to do a fantastic 2018.
"There is nothing yet confirmed. As I said, my plans did not change. I'm waiting for my current team to make a decision and to negotiate whatever possibilities I have as that is my first possibility. The Triple Crown, to win one day, that will put me in a level as a driver that can win in any series at any time. For my fans and for motorsport lovers, they will have a fantastic 2018 season. The plan is ongoing, and very good news will come."
While the Indy 500 and Monaco Grand Prix again clash next season, Le Mans takes place on the weekend of June 16 and 17 in 2018, between F1 races in Canada and France.
