
Injured British F4 driver Monger undergoes amputation

, has undergone an amputation of both his legs.Monger, 17, was airlifted to Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham after crashing into the back of a stalled car.
"Thousands of people have already watched the haunting footage of the crash which left Billy fighting for his life," the team said in a statement on the page. "Sadly, Billy has had amputations to both legs. We now need your kindness and support to help give Billy and his family the best chance to fight these injuries that will affect Billy's life so massively.
"We are in the process of establishing a Trust to receive, hold, manage and expend funds for Billy’s benefit. In the meantime you can help start the process by donating online. Donations will be used to fund the care, treatments and therapies required by Billy in the immediate future and going forward, helping him to return to a full and active life."
Monger's JHR Developments team, with the support of the Monger family, set up a fundraising page on the injured driver's behalf at JustGiving.com with the aim of raising £260,000 [$332,000]. In less than one day, the team has raised more than £535,480 ($687,178 USD). Those donating include F1's Jenson Button and Max Verstappen, who gave £15,000 each. Drivers from IndyCar, F1 and other major series have voiced support on social media channels.
