GP3: ART wins again with Albon

Alexander Albon completed a clean sweep for ART Grand Prix by holding Oscar Tunjo at bay in the second Barcelona GP3 race.

Just as his teammate Charles Leclerc did on Saturday, Albon came from third on the grid to snatch the lead into the first corner.

He and polesitter Tunjo were neck and neck approaching Turn 1, where European Formula 3 convert Albon managed to brake later down the outside and claim the advantage. Jenzer driver Tunjo stayed within a second of Albon until the final quarter of the race, when the leader edged clear.

Antonio Fuoco, who will be on Ferrari Formula 1 testing duty next week, squeezed through to third place with a bold dive into the first corner and then fended off Jake Dennis for the duration to complete the podium.

McLaren protege Nyck de Vries also made the most of his first lap chances and emerged with fifth place, ahead of Matevos Issakyan.

De Vries and Albon's ART team-mates Leclerc and Nirei Fukuzumi – winner and third-place finisher, respectively, on Saturday – both lost ground off the line and failed to score.

Leclerc chased DAMS duo Kevin Jorg and Jake Hughes home in ninth, with Fukuzumi stuck in 13th.

The main incident of the race was a wild battle down the pits straight that earned Matt Parry a time penalty for making too many changes of direction as he forced Santino Ferrucci onto the grass and pit exit.
