FE: Hamilton, Vettel would struggle in Formula E, says di Grassi
Formula E points leader Lucas di Grassi believes that Formula 1's stars would struggle if they were dropped onto the Formula E grid.
Speaking to CNN ahead of next weekend's race in Paris, the ABT driver said that Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton would have a hard time adapting to the all-electric championship because of the lack of testing opportunities.
"They would have a hard time coming to Formula E," said di Grassi. "They are fantastic drivers, they are the most talented drivers of our generation and maybe, I would say, almost our lifetime, but if they come to Formula E they would find it hard.
"They will have to learn the tracks, because all the tracks are brand-new, they are all city tracks, you cannot practise on the tracks. Because you cannot close Paris and say "Okay, I want to practise". I think I will invite them to come to race, even if it's just one race, and see how it is. I'm sure they would be tough competition, but they would have a hard time."
di Grassi, who took the Formula E championship lead with his win at Long Beach, spent one season in F1 with Virgin Racing in 2010, achieving a best result of 14th in Malaysia.
