GP3: Ferrari junior Fuoco sets test pace

Ferrari Formula 1 team protege Antonio Fuoco topped both the morning and afternoon sessions on the second day of the GP3 Series' Estoril test for Trident.

Fuoco set the day's fastest time in the morning session, and was nearly three tenths of a second faster than Alexander Albon's ART Grand Prix machine. Jack Aitken ended the morning's running third for Arden, within two hundredths of Albon. Aitken was only half a tenth behind pacesetter Fuoco in the afternoon session, finishing second.

British drivers rounded out the top four on both occasions, Jake Hughes finishing half a second off Fuoco for DAMS in the morning, while Jack Dennis was much closer to the pace in the afternoon, a quarter of a second off the top spot for Arden.

Although the morning session was free of incident, the afternoon's running was disrupted on two occasions. A brief red flag was required when Mahaveer Raghunathan had a small off and then Charles Leclerc's ART car was hit by technical gremlins.

The final two sessions of the three day test take place on Thursday.
