NASCAR penalizes 23XI's No.23 team for wheel violation
NASCAR has penalized the No.23 23XI Racing team after Bubba Wallace's right-front wheel became detached during last weekend's inaugural Cup Series race at Naval Base Coronado.
Rear-tire changer Adam Hartman and jackman Nathan Ricketts have been suspended for the next two events, running through Chicagoland Speedway on July 5, after the series determined the team to be in violation of Sections 8.8.10.4 A&D, which addresses improper attachment of a wheel during an event.
Wallace's wheel became detached on lap 18 of the race, triggering a caution and earning him a two-lap penalty. Despite the setback, he recovered to finish second.
