IMSA: Fan experience makes Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen a standout event
In addition to an abundance of track activity, June 25-28 weekend packed with off-track events.
The fan friendly atmosphere of the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen weekend will remain true to form this June, as Watkins Glen International has announced an enhanced event schedule.
In addition to on-track action from five of the most competitive series in sportscar racing, those in attendance will be treated to live music, opportunities to meet their favorite drivers and teams, and even a fireworks display on the eve of the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen.
“The opportunity to interact with TUDOR Championship drivers and teams is a unique aspect of Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen,” said Watkins Glen International President Michael Printup. “From the fan walks, to the autograph session, concert and fireworks, it’s a fun-filled weekend for our fans.”
It’s all set to begin on Friday night, following the first Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo race, as the action shifts to the infield for the Sahlen’s Hot Dog eating contest. Afterwards, Wendy Owens and Renegade, along with The Tim Ruffo Band are slated to perform during the night hours at WGI.
On Saturday, pit lane opens for fans and pre-race festivities at 11:35 a.m., prior to the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Continental Tire 150. TUDOR Championship drivers will be available at their team transporters in the paddock from 1:00 p.m. – 1:45 p.m. for a driver autograph session, and a recently added third Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA race is scheduled to go green at 6:55 p.m.
Fans are encouraged to stick around on Saturday evening, for a fireworks display scheduled for dusk, lighting up the skies over the twists and turns of Watkins Glen International and all of those gathered below.
The weekend culminates with Sunday’s TUDOR Championship Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen, but not before one more opportunity to get up close and personal on the grid, with a pre-race fan walk on pit lane at 9:00 a.m.
