Porsche stays ahead in Ricard WEC test

Porsche maintained its position at the top of the timesheets in the second session of the two-day official World Endurance Championship Prologue test at Paul Ricard.

Marc Lieb was again fastest in the #18 Porsche 919 Hybrid in the four-hour afternoon session on Friday. His best time of 1m37.965s put him just over half a second ahead of team-mate Mark Webber's 1m38.552s.

Third place went Audi driver Benoit Treluyer, whose time of 1m39.058s aboard the #7 R18 e-tron quattro was over a second shy of Lieb's best time. Next up was Loic Duval in the second Audi on a 1m39.530s.

The two Toyota TS040 Hybrids were fifth and sixth in the times in the hands of Sebastien Buemi and Stephane Sarrazin, respectively.

Christian Klien was fastest in LMP2 for the SARD Morand team, the Austrian driving ending up on a 1m48.325s in his Morgan-Judd/BMW LMP2 Evo. That put him three tenths up on Sam Bird in the fastest of the G-Drive Racing Ligier-Nissan JSP2s on a 1m48.687s.

Porsche was also fastest in GTE Pro with Michael Christensen's 1m58.372s putting him just two hundredths up on team-mate Frederic Makowiecki in the sister Manthey-run factory 911 RSR.

Patrick Long went quickest in GTE Am in the Proton-run Dempsey Racing Porsche 911 RSR.
