In contrast with teammate Fernando Alonso, Kimi Raikkonen is content with being a Ferrari F1 driver and – unlike fellow 34-year-old former world champion Jenson Button – is certain of his future with his team for 2015. Even so, he admitted in an interview with CNN that he is already thinking longer term. The 34-year-old Finn said that his plans could include a return to NASCAR or rally competition, both of which he tried during his 2010-'11 sabbatical from F1.

Raikkonen raced briefly in both the NASCAR Nationwide Series and Camping World Truck Series and although he didn't produce much in the way of results, he said he gained a positive impression of the sport.

"I really enjoy the whole NASCAR thing," Raikkonen told CNN. "It's just completely different and fun. It was a good experience. Hopefully I can do more [races] some day. I've said I'd like to do some more rallies in the future.

Raikkonen admits his F1 opportunities aren't likely to continue much longer, but he remains unready to retire altogether.

"I have a contract [with Ferrari] for next year and probably for one more year," Raikkonen says. "But I'm not a young guy anymore. I want to do something more with my life than just Formula 1. I will finish my [F1] career in Ferrari, , we'll see in the future."
