Freddie Hunt gets Formula E role
Freddie Hunt, son of 1976 Formula 1 world champion James Hunt, has joined the Formula E series as a driver ambassador.
The 27-year-old previously competed in British Formula Ford and ADAC Formel Masters, and last month returned to the track in a Castle Combe FF1600 race after several years focusing on his business commitments. He will be an official spokesman for the electric series and drive the FE car during promotional events.
"It's a real honor to be given this opportunity with Formula E and to use it to help make people more aware of the championship, as well as to highlight the importance of sustainable mobility and clean energy," Hunt said.
"As a long-time advocate of the environment, I believe what Formula E is trying to achieve is fantastic and I'm looking forward to being a part of this and also to test the car."
Hunt will compete in the MRF Challenge later this year as teammate to Mathias Lauda – the son of Hunt senior's 1976 F1 title rival Niki Lauda.
