30+ car grid set for Radical Cup at Road America

A field for more than 30 Radical Cup North America competitors head to one of North America's most storied road racing venues this weekend as the series makes its 2026 debut alongside the NTT IndyCar Series at Road America. The event that features Rounds 7 through 9 of the championship brings a stacked grid in each of the four classes to the 4.048-mile, 14-turn natural terrain circuit, with point battles heating up across every category.

“Road America is one of the best events on the IndyCar calendar, and Radical Cup’s large fields and action-packed racing has meant it’s become a fan favorite of the weekend,” explained Radical Cup’s Tom Drewer. “The IndyCar backdrop adds an extra layer of prestige to the weekend and pressure on drivers to perform in front of one of the biggest road racing crowds in North America. There is a number of young-guns looking to impress team owners, but there’s a lot of wily series stalwarts they’ll need to contend with too.”

Platinum: Rossi leads, but the pack is chasing

Giant Racing's Robert Rossi arrives at Road America as the Platinum class points leader with 261 points, but the competition is anything but settled. Canada's Wayne Williams (One Motorsports) sits just 47 points back in second with 214, and his One Motorsports teammate Chip Romer is right on his heels at 211, setting up an intriguing intra-team battle for position at a track that rewards commitment and mechanical precision.

However, the Platinum entry list for Road America is deep, with eight cars set to take the grid, including a number of returnees with podium pedigrees. Keep an eye on Curb Strike's David Alban and Scott Wagner, who is fourth in the standings. 2022 class champ Steve Jenks (Group-A Radical New York) will also be one to watch, as will teammate Jason Greenwood and Dave Tweedlie (RYNO Racing).

Pro 1500: Axboe and Kendall face off

Danish sensation Jonas Axboe of Radical Northwest Cameron Racing leads the Pro 1500 standings with 271 points. His nearest rival, Valour Racing's Luke Kendall sits on 231, and comes fresh off a Radical Cup Europe podium result at Spa Francorchamps, and a solid fourth position at Paul Ricard. Kendall was unlucky at Sonoma, and seems to be leveling up each weekend, so expect a fierce battle between the two young-guns.

One Motorsports' Matt Romer is lurking in third at 224 and will be expecting to add to his extensive Radical Cup trophy collection, as will Jack Yang (Valour Racing), who won the class at Road America in 2024. Yang sits just one point adrift of Radical Northwest Cameron Racing’s Valen Venkatesh, who is another to watch, as is Californian Sam McDougall (Group-A Radical New York) who picked up a podium in treacherous conditions at Sonoma. Rookie Josh Holtz (Crown with Radical Arizona) is another to keep an eye on.

Pro 1340: Deonarine and Wolf to be challenged

RySpec's Decklan Deonarine leads the Pro 1340 standings with 232 points, but Crown with Radical Arizona's Evan Wolf has pushed him hard all season and trails by just 16 at 216 markers. Both carry rookie designations, making their battle one of the most compelling storylines of the 2026 season, however this weekend the class has swelled with some serious competition.

Mike D'Ambrose (Team Stradale with Radical Illinois), who won all three races during the opening round at Sebring, should be considered the favorite. This weekend, he’s also being joined by his son Mike D’Ambrose Jr., who has always been quick at Road America as well as another father and son duo– Aaron and Avery Zeigler– under the Stradale tent.

The youngest driver in the field, Nico Balkissoon (Williams Services), turns 14 this weekend and was another standout at Sebring, while a second car out of the powerhouse Crown with Radical Arizona camp, for rookie Ryan George, could further upset the order.

Gold: Everyone is chasing Huhn

Primal Motorsports' Chris Huhn leads the Gold class with 263 points and will be looking to extend his advantage over Group-A Radical New York's Dennis Kelly. David Mason of Graham Rahal Performance is third at 197, with Joe Nuxoll (Radical Northwest Cameron Racing) fourth at 111 and Australia's Richard McDougall (Radical Northwest Cameron Racing) rounding out the top-five.

This weekend the class welcomes newcomers Omar Balkissoon (Nico’s dad) as well as Ross Wolf and Luciano Pancea, both from the Houston based DDautosports program. It also marks the return of storied series stalwart Mike Anzaldi (RYNO Racing), who has numerous Radical Cup wins to his name and is eager to disrupt the front-runners on a track that punishes any mistakes at speed.

All three races from Road America will be livestreamed on Radical Motorsport’s YouTube channel.
