Reddick sweeps Saturday as he rolls to Kansas pole

Practice provided a spoiler for NASCAR Cup Series qualifying Saturday at Kansas Speedway.

Less than an hour after he topped the charts in the weekend’s lone practice session, Tyler Reddick followed it up with a 185.3 mph (29.142s) lap to pace a Toyota-dominant qualifying session for Sunday’s AdventHealth 400.

The result is Reddick’s second pole at Kansas, 14th overall and third of what’s become a standout 2026 season. Reddick has four wins in eight races, a commanding 62-point championship advantage and is now poised to contend for another win on Sunday afternoon.

“It’s really awesome,” Reddick said of his day. “This SupplyHouse Toyota Camry was really solid in practice. … I’m just proud of everyone’s effort at 23XI (Racing).

“We’ve been solid. Obviously we had that stretch where we were really tough to beat here. We’ve worked hard to improve that. To have a Saturday go like this – smooth, just great handling out of our Camrys – is exactly what we want to see.”

The co-owner of Reddick’s car, Denny Hamlin, followed in second with a 185.179 mph lap. Hamlin is out to avenge a near-miss from the fall 2025 race, when contact with 23XI’s Bubba Wallace opened the door for Chase Elliott to slip through and win on a dramatic last lap.

One week after winning his first Cup race, Ty Gibbs (184.982 mph) slotted third to cap off a Toyota 1-2-3. The brand also swept the top-five spots and led both groups in practice.

Defending Kansas spring winner Kyle Larson was the top Chevrolet in fourth, matching Gibbs’ time to the thousandth of a second. Chase Briscoe (194.938 mph) capped off the top-five, with Carson Hocevar (184.856 mph), Chris Buescher (184.761 mph), Daniel Suarez (184.742 mph), Ryan Blaney (184.735 mph) and Bubba Wallace (184.426 mph) wrapping up the top-10.

Elliott will have to rise up from 13th to repeat last fall’s Kansas heroics. Joey Logano rallied to 15th after a practice session hampered by a corded tire. Bristol Motor Speedway rivals Riley Herbst and Kyle Busch slotted together in 22nd and 23rd after trading spins last week.

Alex Bowman showed paced in his practice group, but will be in for another challenging Sunday after qualifying 33rd. Bowman made his Cup return in Bristol after missing four races with vertigo, but was taken out early in a multicar crash. He’ll be joined deep in the field by Team Penske’s Austin Cindric (34th) and promising Trackhouse Racing rookie Connor Zilisch (36th).

There were no major issues during the qualifying session.

Sunday’s race will go live on FOX and FOX One at 2pm ET. A field of 37 entrants will contest the 400.5-mile event.
