RallyX Americas confirms team entries for inaugural season
RallyX Americas has announced the teams that will compete in its premier class when the inaugural season kicks off later this year.
Dubbed "Hypercar," the class will feature the all-electric 1000hp FC1, which debuted in the now-defunct Nitrocross series. The roster includes top rallycross teams, with Hansen Motorsport, SET Promotion, JC Raceteknik and Olsbergs MSE all confirmed to be competing.
“We’re thrilled to announce the partner teams that will be working together in RallyX Americas’ Hypercar class,” said RallyX founder Andreas Eriksson. “The teams that have come together under this collaboration have defined the sport, both on track and off, for decades. Bringing this group together represents a major commitment from all parties to taking the sport of rallycross to the next level.”
The confirmed teams won’t just be participants, but will also work collaboratively with the series to bring stability and growth to a discipline that’s had a tumultuous life in the U.S. since it debuted here in 2010, having gone through four different series.
“The collaboration between RallyX Americas and its partner teams is already yielding great results behind the scenes,” said RallyX strategic advisor Kirk Miller. “Their insights are helping us develop a strong foundation to build upon and a more sustainable rallycross ecosystem for all parties. We’re excited to bring the progress we’ve already made to fruition with an exciting debut season, and we can’t wait to get the season started.”
For Hansen Motorsport, it marks a return to full-time U.S. competition since 2021, with RACER previously revealing that the Swedish team was exploring a return when Nitrocross was still an active series.
It won the first two editions of what was then known as Nitro Rallycross at the Nitro World Games in 2018 and ‘19 with Timmy Hansen – who also competed at Nitrocross in Las Vegas in 2024 with JC as part of the Hansens’ exploration of a U.S. return – and his brother Kevin respectively, and also supported Sebastien Loeb’s gold medal run in the rallycross event at X Games in Los Angeles back in 2012.
“We are very happy to join RallyX Americas for 2026 and beyond,” said Hansen Motorsport co-founder Kenneth Hansen. “It is a big milestone for the sport of rallycross and will give the fans a great show.
“The teams, Set Promotion, JC Raceteknik, OMSE and Hansen together with the RallyX Management have worked hard together with the goal to make the sport as great as it deserves to be with a healthy and sustainable structure that we all believe in. This is the first time teams are so closely involved with a promoter and overall decisions for RallyX and how to grow the championship.”
SET Promotion was another team that last competed in the top class in 2021, running a Hyundai in partnership with Loenbro Motorsport for Steve Arpin.
“This is a huge moment for the potential of rallycross in North America and globally too, which I really believe in,” said SET Promotion co-founder Jussi Pinomäki. “This shows that despite how fierce we have been as competitors over the years, sometimes when it is necessary, we can sit down together, put our thoughts and experience on the table and be unified towards a brighter future.
“The Hypercar class will be the only electric rallycross championship in the world; there is still untapped potential in this concept. I share the long-term vision of the other members in this collaboration and I’m excited to see what the future brings.”
JC Raceteknik has been a mainstay of rallycross in the U.S. since the FC1 was introduced in 2022, winning two Nitrocross titles (and leading the 2024-25 standings before the season was cut short) with Robin Larsson, in partnership with IndyCar outfit Dreyer & Reinbold Racing.
“We’re looking forward to returning to North America through our involvement in RallyX Americas,” said JC Raceteknik’s Joel Christoffersson. “We’ve had a significant amount of success with the First Corner FC1 in recent years, and we’re excited to align with many of the sport’s other top teams to create this unified vision.
“This is a car, series, and schedule that we truly believe in, and we’re looking forward to seeing how the sport continues to grow globally in the coming years.”
Olsbergs MSE has competed in U.S. rallycross since the discipline found its way stateside in 2010. It won the 2010 Rally America-sanctioned series, then the 2011 and '12 Global Rallycross championships, all with Tanner Foust and in 2013 and '14 it added further titles with Toomas Heikinen and Joni Wiman. It went on to run Honda's factory program in the final years of GRC.
After sitting out the two Americas Rallycross seasons in order to focus on its European exploits, the team returned for Nitrocross and developed the FC1 with QEV Technologies as part of the First Corner alliance.
“We couldn’t be more excited to be part of such a world-class group of teams to launch RallyX Americas in 2026,” said Olsbergs MSE’s Kevin Eriksson. “Our combined experience in rallycross around the world will allow us to forge an exciting new path forward that stabilizes and grows the sport globally, and our conversations so far have been very productive.
“We have a great platform of cars, tracks, and now teams all working together to put on a great show. We’re looking forward to an exciting season together and excited for everything to come.”
A notable absence from the list of announced teams is Vermont SportsCar, another long-term rallycross competitor and early adopter of the FC1 in Nitrocross where it ran Travis Pastrana, Conner Martell and Lia Block.
Speaking to RACER, team owner Lance Smith confirmed that his outfit won’t be involved initially, with it instead choosing to focus on other projects. While he revealed the four cars VSC has are available to others, he didn't entirely rule out future participation.
"We are happy to see the progress RallyX Americas has made,” he said. “Although we are currently focusing on our stage rally efforts in 2026 we do have several of our FC1X chassis available for sale and we are of course keeping a close eye on the series."
In addition to the Hypercar line-up – for which drivers will be confirmed in due course – the first teams for the "Supercar" class, which will exclusively feature the combustion-powered FC2, have also been confirmed. BAK40 Motorsports, Olsbergs MSE, SET Loenbro and Team Faren will all feature.
The Crosscar division will feature vehicles from Global Crosskart, Ligier Competition, Olsbergs MSE and Fast & Speed USA. There will also be an Open 2WD division. Supercar, Crosscar, and Open 2WD are all currently accepting privateer entries.
RallyX Americas’ 2026 season will start at Crandon International Raceway on June 20-21, followed by rounds at Eldora Raceway on June 27-28, and Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières in Canada on Aug. 22-23. There will also be invitational events at the Crandon World Cup on Sept. 5-6, and the RallyX Global event at Montalegre in Portugal on Oct. 24-25 for participating drivers.

Dominik often jokes that he was born in the wrong country – a lover of NASCAR and IndyCar, he covered both in a past life as a junior at Autosport in the UK, but he’s spent most of his career to date covering the sliding and flying antics of the U.S.’ interpretation of rallycross. Rather fitting for a man that says he likes “seeing cars do what they’re not supposed to do”, previously worked for a car stunt show, and once even rolled a rally car with Travis Pastrana. He was also comprehensively beaten in a kart race by Sebastien Loeb once, but who hasn’t been?
