Power's father unharmed after attempted carjacking

Bob Power, father of 2018 Indianapolis 500 winner and two-time IndyCar Series champion Will Power, was the victim of an attempted carjacking and briefly held at gunpoint in the family’s home town of Toowoomba, Australia.

Power was uninjured and the perpetrator, who was being tracked by local police by helicopter after stealing other vehicles, was apprehended while attempting to take Power’s car.

“I said, ‘Don’t shoot me,’” Power told 7 News Toowoomba. “I was just getting the dog out and the police arrived and jumped on him.”

After being taken into custody, the 39-year-old man was charged with 15 crimes and held by the police. Power’s son, who drives for Andretti Global, posted the video news segment on his social media channels without comment.
