O'Sullivan signs with Envision for upcoming FE season

Hot on the heels of the announcement of Maximilian Guenther joining the team for the upcoming Formula E season, Paysafe Envision Racing has now confirmed Zak O’Sullivan will be joining him in the team’s refreshed lineup.

Formula 3, Formula 2, and Super GT race winner O’Sullivan has been aligned with Envision for the last two seasons as a simulator and development driver, and took part in rookie free practice sessions and tests in that time.

“I am very excited to be joining the team full-time for the upcoming season,” said O’Sullivan. “I’ve spent the last year embedding myself into the team and can’t wait to get the season started in the new GEN4 car.

“Formula E is a championship I’ve had my sights set on for a long time, so to be joining the grid for Season 13 at such an exciting time for the sport is a great feeling.”

O’Sullivan’s signing marks the second time in as many seasons that Envision has promoted one of its auxiliary drivers to a race seat after Joel Eriksson raced full-time for the team last season.

“We are very happy to announce Zak as a full-time driver for Season 13 and beyond,” said Sylvain Filippi, managing director and CTO of Paysafe Envision Formula E Team. “We’ve spent a lot of time with him during Season 12, and he has established himself in the team very well.

"We have been very impressed with Zak’s performance, both on the track during the rookie sessions, and his commitment off-track. We are very much looking forward to seeing him race in our car and embarking on his rookie season in Formula E with us.”

Envision becomes the fifth team to officially finalize its driver lineup for next season, with 10 of 22 seats on the grid still to be confirmed. 

Among them are the two at Lola – with Lucas di Grassi retiring and Zane Maloney making a switch to Nissan – Mahindra's two seats, and the four seats across Porsche's two teams, with the brand running two factory operations from next season. The existing team is likely to retain recently-anointed two-time champion Pascal Wehrlein and Nico Mueller, however. 

There are also seats at Cupra Kiro (alongside Pepe Marti), and Jaguar TCS Racing (alongside Antonio Felix da Costa) still to be officially confirmed.
