Miller steps down as head of Arlington GP

Over the last two years, Bill Miller was tasked by Penske Entertainment with creating and steering the inaugural Java House Grand Prix of Arlington. With the launch complete, the event’s first president will hand the reins to new president Troy Yarborough.

“After two years leading the Java House Grand Prix of Arlington and establishing it as a marquee stop on the IndyCar calendar, Bill Miller will be stepping down from his role as event president,” Penske Entertainment CEO Mark Miles said.

“This was a mutual decision which affords Bill the opportunity to return to his roots and home in Southern California. Under Bill’s leadership, the Java House Grand Prix of Arlington delivered an incredible inaugural race, laying a strong foundation and generating incredible excitement among fans, partners and the broader community. His guidance helped bring the vision for this event to life and positioned it for long-term success. We are grateful for his contributions and we wish him all the best in his next endeavors.”

Miller said he welcomes the change of pace.

“I’m proud of what we built together in year one of the Java House Grand Prix of Arlington – from designing an event with the guest experience at the forefront, to welcoming fans from all 50 states and 20 countries for a truly world-class race weekend in the City of Arlington,” Miller said.

“I’m grateful to Penske Entertainment, IndyCar, the Dallas Cowboys and REV Entertainment for the opportunity to lead this event and help bring the vision to life. As I return home to Southern California, I do so with tremendous pride in this team and this event, and I’ll be cheering it on as it continues to grow.”

Yarborough joined Team Penske in 2015 from the sports marketing company Octagon, and served as Penske’s senior director of partnerships before being promoted to the new Arlington role.

Hailed as one of the bigger additions to the IndyCar Series in many years, the first Arlington GP won by Andretti Global's Kyle Kirkwood exceeded attendance expectations during its March 13-15 debut, and returns next year in a similar calendar spot across March 19-21.
