Genesis Magma GT Concept shows carmaker's expanding ambitions in sports car racing
At the Genesis Magma World Premiere in Le Castellet, France, the Korean automaker revealed the mid-rear-engined Magma GT Concept and announced a “long-term ambition to enter the GT racing class.”
The Magma GT Concept serves as a vision for the company’s new high-performance halo car, but also lays the groundwork for Genesis to start a GT3 racing program in the near future. It follows the launch of the GMR-001 Hypercar, which is to debut in the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship, as well as parent company Hyundai’s successful line of TCR touring cars like the Elantra N TCR, which have won numerous championships around the world.

“The Magma GT Concept represents the pinnacle of our performance vision and stands as a symbol of our commitment to true motorsport capability," said Luc Donckerwolke, president and chief creative officer of Genesis. "It isn’t defined by raw aggression or uncompromising speed: It is defined by balance. This is a car that feels instinctively connected to its driver, composed under pressure, and meticulously tuned so that every component serves a single purpose: to make performance effortless.
“The Magma GT doesn’t ask the driver to prove their skill; it enhances it. This is not simply a faster Genesis. It is the most complete expression of Genesis performance to date.”
