Toyota teases 2026-spec GR010 Hybrid Hypercar

Toyota Gazoo Racing has teased an updated version of its GR010 Hybrid Hypercar, which is will debut in next year’s FIA World Endurance Championship.

The Japanese marque has endured a difficult 2025 campaign, and with only November’s 8 Hours of Bahrain remaining, it sits fourth in the Hypercar Manufacturers' World Championship standings and faces the possibility of its first-ever podium-less season.

As the oldest Hypercar in the field, the future of the GR010-Hybrid has faced considerable speculation in recent months, as Toyota continues to work towards competing in the forthcoming FIA WEC category for hydrogen-powered prototypes, which is expected to be introduced before the end of the decade.

The silhouetted images released today on social media show multiple visual changes to the GR010-Hybrid, including a new rear wing, front bodywork and headlight design.

Toyota has not yet gone into detail over the full extent of the GR010-Hybrid’s overhaul, though it did disclose key information to Japanese media during last weekend's FIA WEC 6 Hours of Fuji event. In the briefing, it explained that the new aero package has been developed to improve the car's top speed and make it less sensitive to Balance of Performance changes.

Toyota will begin testing the new aero package in the coming days ahead of the car's visit to the Windshear Wind Tunnel for homologation, along with every other Hypercar, ahead of next season.

The five-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner is not alone in developing EVO joker updates for its Hypercar in time for the 2026 season opener in Qatar. BMW has already revealed its new-look M Hybrid V8, and other manufacturers, including Alpine and Cadillac, are set to follow suit before the end of the year.
