Honda secures IndyCar manufacturers’ championship

This year's edition of the annual manufacturers’ championship battle waged between Chevrolet and Honda fell to the American arm of the Japanese brand after Honda Corporation US stormed to 12 wins from the first 15 IndyCar Series races.

The achievement comes after Chevrolet won three straight manufacturers’ titles from 2022-24, but Honda’s offseason work to address its shortcomings resulted in a surprising streak of 10 consecutive victories to open the 2025 season.

The unbroken start from St. Petersburg with Chip Ganassi Racing’s Alex Palou, which included Andretti Global’s Kyle Kirkwood claiming the 50th running of the Acura-sponsored Long Beach Grand Prix, another Palou win at the 109th Indianapolis 500, and concluded with Ganassi’s Scott Dixon winning at Road America sealed the 10-in-a-row run.

Palou would add two more triumphs to help deliver Honda’s manufacturers’ crown well in advance of the final race.

“What an amazing season,” said HRC US president David Salters. “The men and women of HRC US dug super deep in the offseason and have rewarded by a clean sweep of the Indy 500, manufacturers’ championship, and drivers’ championship. What a season – stunning and record setting in so many ways. I’m so proud of our team.”

Palou has been central to the brand’s achievement.

“We just won the championship!” he said after clinching the drivers’ title in Portland. “It was an amazing race, and we tried everything we could to win the race as well. So happy with P3 and that was enough for the championship. I can’t thank this No. 10 team, that has been working so hard to make us so good on track, enough. I also can’t thank Honda enough – congratulations to everyone at Honda and HRC on wrapping up the manufacturers’ championship as well today! That’s pretty cool. I cannot wait for more!”

Salters has a deep appreciation for all the four-time champion has brought to Honda.

“We are witnessing history being made by Alex Palou,” Salters added. “He is a generational talent and it’s a pleasure and a privilege to watch him behind the wheel. Massive congratulations to the marvelous team at Chip Ganassi Racing and to Chip and Barry [Wanser] and the whole No. 10 crew. Superb effort, it’s a great partnership between us at Honda and HRC and the Chip Ganassi Racing organization. For now, on to the next race. We have two more to do and then full focus forward to 2026 as well!”
