Correa to make IMSA debut at Sebring with United Autosports

Juan Manuel Correa will return to sports car racing next week – and make his IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship debut – when he joins United Autosports USA at the Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring.

Correa, a European Le Mans Series LMP2 race winner who's made 68 starts in the FIA Formula 2 Championship from 2019 to 2024, will drive the No.2 United Autosports ORECA 07 for the remainder of the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup, sharing the car with reigning Jim Trueman Award winner Nick Boulle and co-driver Ben Hanley.

“I'm thrilled to be back racing stateside after an extended period in Europe,” said Correa. “IMSA has been on my radar for a while, so it is exciting to join the grid for the remaining endurance events. I'm eager to start working with my new teammates and team, I am confident we will find shared success.”

“It is great to welcome Juan to the IMSA team,” added United Autosports CEO Richard Dean. “I’ve been keeping an eye on his progress in endurance racing and, with an ELMS race win and solid results in the WEC, it’s clear he will be a strong addition to our line-up. Our No. 2 IMSA crew had huge potential at Daytona and with the addition of Juan and a bit more luck on our side, I look forward to celebrating their IMSA successes this season.”

Correa made six LMP2 starts for PREMA Racing, across the European Le Mans Series and FIA World Endurance Championship, from 2022-23. He won the 2022 ELMS 4 Hours of Portimaõ, and finished 16th in class at his first start at Le Mans in 2023.

Most recently, Correa tested a Super Formula car at Suzuka in December – one of multiple foreign drivers who appeared at the Japanese series' winter test.

United Autosports heads into Sebring after a race of mixed fortunes at Daytona. The No. 2 ORECA was involved in a multi-car accident on Saturday night which ended his and his co-drivers' races. Meanwhile, the No. 22 car of Daniel Goldburg, Paul di Resta, Rasmus Lindh, and James Allen took the win after Tower Motorsports' No. 8 ORECA was disqualified for a technical infringement.
