Logano fined for Atlanta glove infringement

Joey Logano has been fined $10,000 for the altered glove he wore at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

NASCAR reviewed the in-car camera and did an inspection of Logano’s gloves following Saturday’s qualifying session. The left glove had been altered to include webbing between Logano’s thumb and index finger, which was seen as both a competitive infraction and a safety violation.

Logano was penalized at Atlanta by having to start at the rear of the field and serve a pass-through penalty at the start of the Ambetter 400. The penalty was for the competition infraction, as drivers put their hands up to the window net to deflect air from coming inside the car on a superspeedway.

The safety violation is for the glove not meeting SFI specifications.

NASCAR also issued a points penalty to two Stewart-Haas Racing cars following Atlanta. Officials confiscated the roof rails from the No. 10 and No. 41 team during pre-race inspection because they did not meet specifications in the NASCAR Rule Book.

Noah Gragson’s No. 10 was docked 35 driver and owner points. Ryan Preece’s No. 41 team was also docked 35 driver and owner points.

The roof rails are not a single-sourced supplied part but made by the race teams.
