Robichon awarded Detroit IMSA GTD pole
Porsche driver Zach Robichon was awarded the GTD pole for Saturday’s Chevrolet Sports Car Classic after a technical infraction discovered on the No. 96 Turner Motorsport BMW resulted in that car being moved to the back of the field.
Robichon originally came up .031s short of the pole, running 1m29.735s in the No. 73 Park Place Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R. The BMW's disqualification resulted in the Canadian's first career IMSA WeatherTech Championship pole, coming on his 27th birthday.
Robby Foley was fastest in Friday’s qualifying for the GT Daytona class, turning a quick lap of 1m29.704s in the Turner BMW. However, the camber settings of that car were found to be out of compliance during post-qualifying inspection. That car will now start last in the 12-car GTD field.
