Jorge Lorenzo has undergone successful surgery after breaking his left scaphoid (wrist) while training, Repsol Honda Team said.
While continuing his preparations for the 2019 MotoGP World Championship,Lorenzo fell while riding just outside of Verona, Italy. He elected to have surgery, which was described as a minimally invasive procedure to insert a titanium screw. He will remain in hospital for 24 hours for further observation but will only require four days’ rest to give the injury time to heal prior to physiotherapy, the team said.
Due to the injury, Lorenzo and the Repsol Honda Team have elected for Lorenzo to miss the Feb. 6-8 Sepang Test. His aim is to return for the Qatar Test from Feb, 23-25. He will head to Madrid for the 25th anniversary Repsol Honda Team launch on January 23 alongside Marc Márquez.
