Hawksworth signs with AVS Lexus

Jack Hawksworth, the fastest driver from the former 3GT Lexus GT Daytona program (pictured), will lead the new AIM Vasser Sullivan outfit as the first signing for its RC F GT3 effort in IMSA’s WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

"I am delighted and excited to be joining the AIM Vasser Sullivan racing team for the upcoming IMSA season,” Hawksworth said. “I have spent the last two seasons driving the Lexus RC F GT3 car and look forward to continuing the push forward in the quest to win the big races and a championship with the AVS team and Lexus.

"Our first point of call will be the Rolex 24 At Daytona. I look forward to beginning preparations with the team over the coming weeks and months so that we can be ready for the challenge come January! Thank you to AVS for putting their faith in me and to everybody at Lexus for their continued support. I can't wait to get started!"

Having earned four pole positions and five fastest race laps for Lexus last season, the Briton’s services were in high demand and will help the new AVS team to learn the needs of the RC F GT3 at a rapid rate.

“Having Jack join us is an important step in accelerating the learning curve for all of us at AVS,” AIM Vasser Sullivan co-owner and lead engineer Ian Willis said. “The Lexus RC F GT3 is a new platform for us and Jack has proven that he understands the car and knows what it takes to put us in the winner’s circle. This is fantastic for us and offers a terrific advantage and opportunity for Jack’s eventual co-drivers.”

After Hawksworth, AVS has three additional full-time and its endurance drivers to nominate for its two-car program.
