Truck Series to race under new name in 2019
Marcus Lemonis and NASCAR made it official Tuesday that the Truck Series will be rebranded in 2019 to the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series.
Lemonis announced the news during his earnings call for Camping World, of which he is the CEO. Camping World has been the entitlement sponsor of the series since 2009, and in 2014 the brand signed a seven-year sponsorship agreement to continue through the 2022 season.
“Nearly a decade ago we felt strongly our entitlement sponsorship would dramatically increase Camping World’s customer base and it’s delivered,” said Lemonis in a statement. “We expect the passionate fans of NASCAR will embrace Gander Outdoors the same way they supported Camping World and we couldn’t be more excited about the future of the series.”
Camping World bought the rights to Gander Mountain during a bankruptcy auction last year.
Through this agreement, Camping World brands Overton’s and The House Outdoor Gear will receive official NASCAR status.
Ganders Outdoors also previously announced sponsorship of the Truck race at Pocono in July (the Gander Outdoors 150) and the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race (the Gander Outdoors 400).
