The 24 Hours of Le Mans will be aired live in the United States and Canada in June on the Velocity cable channel and streamed through the Motor Trend app.

The move to the automotive enthusiast-themed TV outlet owned by the Discovery Network will place the iconic race in 73 million homes, and comes after FOX chose not to renew its longstanding Le Mans contract following the 2017 event.

Like the switch from FOX to Velocity, American viewers will also need to adjust to a different style of presentation. Where FOX used a dedicated staff of hosts, analysts, and on-site pit reporters to call the legendary endurance contest, Velocity/Motor Trend will rely on a packaged feed from Eurosport.

Another change, which calls back to the days of FOX’s former SPEED channel, will have the entire 24-hour Le Mans race aired live on a single channel during the June 16-17 event. Live practice and qualifying sessions held June 13-14 will be available exclusively on MotorTrend.com and via the Motor Trend App.

“Without question the 24 Hours of Le Mans is the most iconic auto racing event in the world,” said Robert S. Scanlon, president of Velocity and Motor Trend Group Video Content. “Eurosport produces world-class live coverage of the event every year. Nowhere else in the U.S. or Canada can fans access their best-in-class coverage, and get a broader, richer Le Mans experience than with Velocity on television, MotorTrend.com online and the Motor Trend app on connected devices.”

The new arrangement between the ACO, organizers of the Le Mans event, and the FIA World Endurance Championship, which sanctions the series, will also place the full WEC ‘Super Season’ calendar that runs from Spa in May through the 2019 Le Mans race on Velocity/Motor Trend.
