Loeb drives 2013 Pikes Peak record-breaking Peugeot 208T16 in France
Sebastien Loeb went for a drive in the Peugeot 208T16 he used to break the Pikes Peak Hill Climb record in 2013 as part of the Turckheim Hill Climb in Alsace, France.
With 875bhp from its twin-turbo engine and a rear wing from Peugeot's 908 LMP1 Le Mans sports car, the 208T16 driven by Loeb set a time of 8m13.878s which still has not been surpassed.
Peugeot agreed to allow the Sebastien Loeb Racing team to run the car at select events. This weekend, Loeb will demonstrate the 208T16 as well as the Peugeot 306 Maxi (in which he is scheduled to compete at the Var rally in November) and the Citroën C4 WRC.
“I dreamed of owning this car one day and I was delighted and proud when Peugeot agreed to pass it on to me," Loeb said upon receiving the car before the 2017 Pikes Peak Hill Climb. "It’s quite a complex car to drive but it didn’t take me long to find my marks again. The sensation at the wheel of the 208T16 Pikes Peak is unique but nothing much has actually changed.
"Peugeot Sport engineers took great care over getting it running again and the technical staff at Sébastien Loeb Racing didn’t take long to grasp its niceties. I really wanted to drive it again, but this time in my home region, Alsace. I think that’s important, not only for me and my team but also for French motorsport fans.”
