Nissan leads IMSA FP2 at CTMP

Demonstrations of speed by Ryan Dalziel in the No. 2 Nissan Onroak DPi (1m08.994s) and crashing continued into the second IMSA practice session at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park as two red flags paused the action.

The Scot's quick lap was shadowed by Ricky Taylor in the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac DPi-V.R (+0.059s) and the sister No. 22 Nissan driven by Pipo Derani (+0.099s), but only one of the two Tequila Patron ESM cars ended the session in one piece.

Johannes van Overbeek, Derani's teammate, did all he could to hold onto the wiggling No. 22 on the approach to Turn 2, but a punctured right-rear tire (while navigating the rapid left-hand turn) ensured contact with the barriers would happen. The right-rear section of the Ligier-built Nissan received the brunt of the damage, and van Overbeek was unhurt.

GT Le Mans was close to a mirror image of FP1 as the Porsche GT Team 911 RSR combo of Laurens Vanthoor in the No. 912 (1m14.753s) and Patrick Pilet in the No. 911 (+0.527) held the top two spots and the No. 24 BMW Team RLL M6 driven by John Edwards was third (+0.642s).

GT Daytona underwent an interesting shuffle as Sage Karam moved the No. 14 Lexus RCF GT3 to the lead (1m17.135s). Stevenson Motorsports' Andrew Davis followed in the No. 57 Audi R8 LMS GT3 (+0.263s) and Christina Nielsen sealed the top three with her Scuderia Corsa Ferrari 488 GT3 (+0.295s)

Michael de Quesada was responsible for the final red flag, which came out in the final minute of the one-hour session, as his Rolex 24 at Daytona-winning No. 28 Porsche 911 GT3 R made hard contact with the Turn 3 barriers.
