Slot Mods USA debuts F1-commissioned track

Formula 1's VIP Paddock Club just got a lot more creative.

Slot Mods USA, which painstakingly creates hand-crafted, museum-quality slot car tracks from vintage to modern-day circuits, recently unveiled its latest F1-commissioned build at the Canadian Grand Prix.

“Formula 1 sits at the pinnacle of technological innovation and we are focused on creating world-class fan experiences that equal what is on the grid,” said Sean Bratches, managing director of commercial operations for Formula 1.

“The addition of David Beattie’s Slot Mods custom slot car track was the center of activity at the Paddock Club at the Canadian Grand Prix and is representative of the next level fan experiences we are beginning to deliver to formula 1 fans.”

The track will hold court in the VIP Paddock Club for the remaining races on the 2017 schedule.

The magic of a slot-car track from Slot Mods, which is built using styrofoam and construction-grade lumber, in addition to materials like marble, leather or exotic hardwoods,

is in the smallest details

looked after by everyone from fabricators to model artists.

"Every track we build presents its own challenges," Beattie, Slot Mods founder and creative director, told RACER in January. "We strive for heirloom quality, so for every detail you see, there are as many you don't see."
