Jamin doubles up in IMSA LMP3
Nico Jamin doubled up in the debut of the LMP3 chassis in IMSA Prototype Challenge Presented by Mazda competition, winning Friday morning's second race of the weekend in the No. 20 ANSA Motorsports Ligier JS P3.
Jamin led start to finish in the 45-minute event, completing 18 laps on the historic 3.74 circuit. The race ended under caution due to a multi-car incident in the hairpin shortly after a restart with eight minutes remaining.
"I wish we had some more time – a green-flag restart would have been good for the fans," said Jamin, who also led every lap in Thursday's opener. "The car was awesome. We made some changes from yesterday, and the tires were degrading less."

"To be honest, even 30 minutes before the green flag we didn't think we were going to be in the race," Thompson admitted. "Kelly-Moss Motorsports and Norma went from not even having a car to having one good enough to take the second step of the podium."
Third went to Andres Gutierrez in the No. 38 Performance Tech Motorsports Ligier.
Other manufacturers represented in the new class were the Ave-Riley AR2 – with Paul Fix placing 10th in the No. 44 Ave Motorsports entry – and the Ginetta LMP3, which finished 12th with Alan Wilzig at the wheel of the No. 23 Performance Tech Motorsports car.
Kyle Masson led the Mazda Prototype Challenge class for the second consecutive day, placing fifth overall in the No. 18 Performance Tech Motorsports Elan DP02, followed by BAR1 Motorsports owner/driver Brian Alder in the No. 22 entry.
The raced was slowed for four laps under caution when Joel Janco went wide in Turn 17 on lap 10 and impacted the tire barrier head-on in the No. 25 JDC Motorsports Ligier. He was uninjured in the incident. On the lap following the lap 15 restart, four cars spun in the hairpin and a second caution waved when the No. 21 Elan of Stuart Rettie was unable to continue.
Rob Hodes (No. 51 Ligier LMP3) and Robert Masson (No. 11 Elan) were able to continue to the pits for repairs, but the 45 minute time limited expired before the incident was cleared.
