
Elliott paces final Atlanta practice
Georgia native Chase Elliott was fastest in final Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series practice Saturday at Atlanta Motor Speedway with a lap of 188.015 mph. Elliott was the fastest of six Chevrolets that made up the top 10 speeds.
Brad Keselowski was second fastest at 187.602 mph, Kurt Busch was third fastest at 187.576 mph, AJ Allmendinger was fourth fastest at 187.519 mph, and Denny Hamlin rounded out the top five at 187.506 mph.
There were no incidents during the 1 hour, 20-minute session.
The rest of the top 10 were Ryan Newman (186.843 mph), Kasey Kahne (186.736 mph), Dale Earnhardt Jr. (186.472 mph), Trevor Bayne (186.284 mph), and Kyle Larson (186.065 mph).
Defending race winner Jimmie Johnson, who will look to make it three consecutive wins in the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500, was 23rd fastest at 183.905 mph.
Polesitter Kevin Harvick was 27th fastest in the session at 183.326 mph.
