F1: 'I think we have been humbled' - Marchionne
Ferrari President Sergio Marchionne (pictured, right) is excited about what the team can achieve in 2017 after a recent restructuring.
James Allison left the role of chief technical officer in July, being replaced by Mattia Binotto. The change had little impact on Ferrari's 2016 season but Binotto has been given the freedom to try and build the structure he requires ahead of next year, with new aerodynamic regulations being introduced.
While Marchionne praised the job done by Ferrari's rivals this season, he says the lessons learned over the past 12 months have influenced the approach at Maranello when it comes to the 2017 car.

"2016 has been a difficult year," Marchionne said. "I think we have learned a lot and I think we have been humbled by the success of the other teams and by the speed with which they have been able to better their cars throughout the season. So I think we have learned a lot – I think we have taken all of this into account in preparing for the 2017 season.
"Mattia has worked diligently to put a team together that can finally break this unfortunate sequencing of non-wins over the last few years. I'm very, very hopeful about 2017. I'm not going to make any prognostications about how many we will win and when we will win, but I know that we couldn't have tried harder than we've tried so far to bring the car to a successful completion.
"We'll see the car on Feb. 24, which is either a day or two before the car goes to Barcelona for the tests. I think we're excited about what we're going to be able to show and I think we're excited about going to Australia to try and place Ferrari at the front of the grid. It's been a tough year – hopefully a much easier and more successful year in 2017."
The new Ferrari will be launched during a filming day at the team's Fiorano test track, with pre-season testing getting underway at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on Feb. 27.
