GT: Fisichella to contest full Blancpain series

Ex-Formula 1 driver Giancarlo Fisichella will contest the full Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup next season, in an AF Corse-run Ferrari. The Ferrari factory driver, who took part in three of the five enduros with AF this season, will race a 488 GT3 in the Pro Cup division of the series, with Russian entrant Kaspersky Motorsport.
The 43-year-old veteran of 229 grand prix starts will share the car with Marco Cioci, and a third driver who has yet to be named.
"This is a new opportunity," Fisichella said. "Ferrari has always been a big player in the motorsport world that brings incredible experiences and long-lasting memories to racing fans worldwide."
There are no clashes between the endurance segment of the Blancpain GT Series and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship that would preclude Fisichella from continuing to drive for the Risi Competizione Ferrari squad in North America.
Kaspersky's graduation from the am ranks of the Endurance Cup gives Ferrari a presence in the pro class for the first time since 2015. Russian amateur driver Alex Mosiseev, who is cyber-security company Kaspersky's sales boss, will continue with the team in a second car.
