GP3: F3 Pau GP winner Lorandi makes switch

Pau Grand Prix winner Alessio Lorandi will complete the GP3 season with Jenzer after curtailing his European Formula 3 program with Carlin early.
The 18-year-old Italian informed Carlin prior to the last F3 round at the Nurburgring that he wanted to call a halt to his season in the category. He will now move to Andreas Jenzer's team for the final two GP3 events of 2016, supporting Formula 1's Malaysian and Abu Dhabi Grands Prix.
"It's a relief for me to be back behind the wheel of a racecar after the early end of my FIA F3 experience," said Lorandi. "I thank Andreas Jenzer for his enthusiasm and for the trust he placed in me.
"It is a really interesting and competitive series featuring some of my previous Formula 3 contenders like [Charles] Leclerc, [Jake] Dennis and [Alexander] Albon."
Lorandi is the second mid-season F3 convert to join Jenzer in GP3 after Arjun Maini, who moved across ahead of the British GP support event in July. The team has rotated drivers through 2016, with Akash Nandy, Maini and Oscar Tunjo its core line-up.
Practice at next weekend's Sepang event will be Lorandi's first run in the GP3 car.
"Alessio has done the maximum preparation possible in the simulator and with our engineers and we are looking forward to see him in our car," said Jenzer.
