CTSCC: Massive crash for Bodymotion, CJ Wilson Racing

A massive crash opened Saturday's Continental Tire Series race at Road America that resulted in the No. 76 Compass 360 Ford Mustang sitting on its right side and the No. 35 CJ Wilson Racing Porsche Cayman upside down on the exit of Turn 12.

Light contact from the No. 12 GS Bodymotion Racing Porsche Cayman driven by Trent Hindman and Paul Holton turned the No. 76 Ford Mustang hard right, and with Till Bechtolsheimer's Porsche on the right of Holton, the Ford hit the Porsche and a domino effect took place that sent both cars hard into right-side tire barriers nose-first.

Holton's Mustang bounced back and flipped onto its side, where it remained, while Bechtolsheimer's Cayman recoiled and flipped onto its roof. Holton stood up in the car, and climbed out the right-side door, and Bechtolsheimer slithered out of his Porsche to greet the waiting safety workers.

After seeing Holton emerged from the car unscathed, Compass 360 team owner Karl Thomson wanted the safety team to push the Mustang over and onto all four wheels so his drivers could get back to the pits and possibly continue in the race.

"Paul's out of the car," he said. "It was a little bit of a hard hit going in. I kinda wanted the safety workers to push it over so we could get it back here. It went nose-first into the wall, so there could be some damage, but we won't know until we get it back here."

The CJ Wilson Cayman was damaged beyond repair and was returned to the pits on the back of a flatbed truck.
