IMSA: Action Express maintains 1-2 in Detroit FP2
In a continuation of its 1-2 in the first practice session, the Action Express Racing Corvette DP maintained its lead in FP2 as the No. 31 driven by Dane Cameron (1m23.860s) reversed the internecine battle from FP1 to head the sister No. 5 driven by Christian Fittipaldi (1m24.421s). Corvette DPs locked out the top four positions as the No. 90 Spirit of Daytona and No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing entries displaced all of the Honda- and Mazda-powered P2s.
A somewhat lengthy red flag was required in the early moments of the 90-minute session to remove the No. 20 BAR1 Motorsports PC entry driven by Johnny Mowlem after a suspension breakage left the car stranded on course. With the course clear, CORE autosport's Colin Braun led all PCs (1m26.211s) in his No. 54 car. He traded spots with Renger van der Zande in the No. 8 Starworks Motorsport entry (1m26.475s) who was fastest in FP1.
Although Prototype and PC had new leaders in the second session, GT Daytona saw an exact repeat of this morning's top three. Park Place Motorsports' Jorg Bergmeister was fastest in the No. 73 Porsche 911 GT3 R (1m31.270s), Jeroen Bleekemolen's No. 33 Viper Exchange Dodge Viper was second (1m31.324s) and Jens Klingmann's No. 97 Turner Motorsport BMW M6 GT3 (1m31.452s) was third.
