F1: Magnussen will have to make pitlane start

Renault driver Kevin Magnussen will start Formula 1's Bahrain Grand Prix from the pitlane after failing to stop for weighing during practice. The incident occurred at the end of the second session at Sakhir, with Magnussen handed a severe punishment for the infringement.

Magnussen and a team representative attended a hearing of the stewards, who for this race are led by British Racing Drivers' Club president Derek Warwick. The offense was a breach of article 29.1 of the FIA sporting regulations.

A FIA statement read: "The driver failed to stop for weighing during P2 when signalled to do so by the red traffic light, the car was not returned to the FIA garage and work was undertaken.

"In accordance with article 29.1 (iv) of the FIA Formula 1 sporting regulations the driver is required to start from the pitlane."

Magnussen had ended Friday 16th fastest.
