FE: Stars hit Hollywood ahead of Long Beach race
Ahead of Saturday's Faraday Future Long Beach ePrix, some of the FIA Formula E Championship drivers took a trip to the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Race winner Lucas di Grassi and his Abt Schaeffler Audi Sport teammate Daniel Abt were joined by Mahindra Racing's ex-Formula 1 star Nick Heidfeld and Robins Frijns, who races for Michael Andretti's team in the all-electric championship. Pictures were taken with stars of icons such as Steve McQueen, Tom Cruise and Rush director Ron Howard, as the drivers sought out their Hollywood idols' stars.
"Of course I'd seen it before on TV, but it was different to how I'd imagined it," said Frijns. "It's the home race for the team and we hope to have a lot of support here, so it's a race that I am really looking forward to."
"The U.S. is a very important market, especially California," said di Grassi. "It's where the electric car started and where Tesla and Faraday Future is based. For us to be here promoting electric racing in Long Beach, which is a very traditional circuit, it's a good place to race on, very wide and very well organized. It would be good to have more races in the U.S., it's where the innovation is and I'm very happy to be here."
The second Long Beach ePrix takes place Saturday afternoon on the streets of downtown Long Beach surrounding the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center. The start/finish line is on Shoreline Drive. The 1.32-mile, seven-turn temporary street course is part of the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach circuit. The race airs live on FOX Sports 1 at 6:30 p.m. ET.
